What is hydroponics and how does it work?
Hydroponics is the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil, and can include an aggregate substrate, or growing media, such as vermiculite, coconut coir, or perlite. Hydroponic production systems are used by small farmers, hobbyists, and commercial enterprises.
What is a hydroponic grow room?
This ingenious way to grow your own food requires zero soil. Simply put, hydroponic gardening is method of growing plants without soil. It’s a way to nurture a huge variety of edible plants (think herbs, veggies, even some fruits) indoors all year round, regardless of what Mother Nature is doing outside your door.
What is a hydroponic table?
A hydroponic table, also known as a flood table or grow tray, is a container that holds plants in a hydroponic system. Hydroponic tables are used with a stand or rolling bench and a reservoir that contains a nutrient solution. A water pump then moves the nutrients from the reservoir into the table, where they slowly drain back into the reservoir.
The tables allow a large number of seedlings to be propagated in a confined space before they are transplanted into the main hydroponic system. The Ebb and Flow tables use a flood and drain process to hydrate the growing media from beneath before draining the excess moisture away.
When choosing a hydroponic table, it’s important to consider the dimensions of your stand or rolling bench. The outside dimensions of the table determine if it will fit in the stand, while the inside dimensions determine how many plants you can fit in the table.
