The 2.5 inch adapter is used on the 2.5 inch round light pole. This adapter is an optional accessory, which depends on the actual size of the light pole. The 2.5 inch adapter is needed when using the 2.5 inch light pole, but it is not directly installed when using the 3 inch light pole.
